Q: What is the best way to clean the 3 in 1 FeederA:We routinely use a shop vacuum once a month to remove any dirt or debris left from our hay. If need be the feeder can be removed from the stall and power washed on an annual basis. Most veterinary hospitals will disinfect the feeder by wiping it down between patients. The researchers found that age, stress hormone levels from the test day, persistence, food motivation, and height could be eliminated, and sensory and motor laterality could not be fully considered as a factor, because most horses in this study tended to favor their left side.

The researchers suggest these last two traits may be the result of life experiences in which the horses have been exposed to a variety of challenges and activities that required similar problem-solving. They hope that their work will lead to more study and a deeper understanding of the cognitive capabilities of horses.

I actually use this for hogs. They know the sound the feeder makes, and come running when they hear it! You can set almost any amount from one cup dry food, and have from 1 up to 12 feedings/day. I connected this with a 15 watt Coleman solar power system I also purchased on Amazon for around $65. The solar charging system connects to an old car battery. Feeder power needs are very low. My system is outdoors outside the hog enclosure; the feeder is enclosed with a wood box I built. The box can be removed to fill up the feed bin, and is weather resistant.
